Unit Manager for Adult Education Center Järva

The center is located in Kista Galleria and offers an exciting assignment for you who want to be part of continuing to develop the unit that was started a year ago together with the area manager and employees.

Welcome to us

The operational area Admission and Support, which is part of the Adult Education Department of Stockholm, consists of six units and we are approximately 140 employees in total. We are now looking for a unit manager for the Adult Education Center Järva, which has premises in Kista Galleria. We are a unit that works to provide information and service to customers about municipal adult education. Services offered include assistance with applications for education, study and career guidance, level testing before studies, and mapping/assessment of support needs before studies. We also work proactively to reach more people who start studying within adult education.

The adult education in Stockholm offers a wide range of educational programs through municipal adult education. We have over 40,000 students studying with us annually. We base our work on the needs of Stockholmers, and our goal is to provide the best possible service for those who turn to us. Here, Stockholmers can apply for Swedish for immigrants (SFI) as well as basic and upper secondary adult education (Komvux). Residents can also receive information about educational programs and schools, book study guidance, and test their knowledge in Swedish, English, and mathematics.

Currently, four study and career counselors, three administrators, and one business developer work at the Adult Education Center Järva. The unit is led by a unit manager.

Your role

The unit was started and built up in 2025 with the overarching goal that the Adult Education Center in Järva will actively work to ensure that more residents in Järva and Västerort study, thereby contributing to raising the education level and reducing unemployment in the affected neighborhoods.

You will be responsible for the unit's operational and quality development, finances, and personnel. You will lead the work of the unit. Together with employees and the management group of the operational area, you will follow up and develop the work based on politically established goals and assignments. You will also be part of the collaboration group for the operational area. You report to the area manager. Since the unit is relatively newly established, the work will involve building further by continuing to develop routines, building and creating relationships and collaboration with other actors, as well as collaborating internally within the administration and with other administrations within the municipality. As a unit manager, you will primarily work on-site in the unit's premises in Järva, where you will lead and distribute the work. Regular meetings at the Adult Education Center Södermalm or at the administrative office at Globen will also occur, where you participate in management group meetings and other strategic forums.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• an academic degree in a relevant field for this position
• relevant experience in work with similar assignments or operations in similar areas as Järva.
• several years of managerial experience including personnel, budget, and operational responsibility
• experience in driving development and change work
• good ability to express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing.

It is meritorious if you have:

• experience in adult education
• worked in a politically governed organization
